A brief history of Helena Montana

Helena was discovered in 1864  by four miners who were known as the “Four Georgians” on their search for gold.  They did find gold at Last Chance Gulch  and word of their discovery spread far and wide bringing hundreds of people hoping to strike it rich.  The town that sprang up due to this vast influx of people was named Helena in tribute to an area miner’s hometown.

later Helena became the capital city of the forty first state, Montana. Since Helena has played a very significant and influential role in the politics, industry, agriculture and culture of Montana.

Helena is affectionately called the “Queen City of the Rockies” and was recently named “Best Small Arts Town in America”  Helena Montana is a wonderful place to visit and an even better place to call home.
